Watch your monsters rise from the ashes, when you bring together the fiery Phoenix monsters of two distant lands: Fire King High Avatar Garunix and the Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys.

The Onslaught of the Fire Kings Structure Deck is based around rebirth and renewal. Whenever Garunix or Nephthys are destroyed by a card effect, they return to the field in a blaze of glory soon after. And when they do, their fires burn so bright that they incinerate all cards in a specific row. Garunix destroys all other monsters on the field, while Nephthys destroys all Spells and Traps.

If you’re interested in invoking total devastation, use two copies of Garunix together. With both on the field, have one be destroyed. Next Standby Phase, it will return, and destroy the other Garunix and all other monsters. When the second Garunix returns in the next Standby Phase, it will destroy the first Garunix and everything else, then the first Garunix will come back again and destroy everything, including the second Garunix, which will then come back again and… well, you get the idea. With two Garunixes operating together, you can make certain that none of your opponent’s monsters will ever be around for more than one turn!

Fire Power

You’ll also get two new Spell Cards to help you crank up the heat: Onslaught of the Fire Kings and Circle of the Fire Kings.

Setting up your Garunix and Nephthys plays is easy with the Onslaught of the Fire Kings Spell Card. Use it to Summon Garunix, Nephthys, or any similar monster directly out of your Deck. Onslaught will destroy the monster at the end of the turn, but that’s okay because that’s EXACTLY what you want to happen.

Once Garunix or Nephthys is destroyed by Onslaught’s card effect, it just means that their own effect activates, and they will rise from the ashes to incinerate the field next turn. (Even though Onslaught’s side effect will negate the monster’s effect on the field, it has NO effect once the monster is in the Graveyard, so it doesn’t impede your phoenixian effects at all.)

If your Garunix/Nephthys set-up ever gets disrupted, you can use Circle of the Fire Kings to get it going again. This card lets you revive a FIRE monster from the Graveyard by destroying one on the field. Use this to get back a phoenix that was destroyed by battle, or just use it as another way to get your combo going by destroying a Garunix or Nephthys on the field with a card effect. In fact, Circle of the Fire Kings is a great way to set up the double-Garunix combo, since it destroys one (which sets it up to revive next turn) and puts your other Garunix back on the field (so it will be destroyed by the first Garunix, and then revive on the following turn, and set your devastating combo in motion).

Since Circle is a Quick-Play Spell, you can also use it when one of your monsters is about to be destroyed anyway. If your opponent just activated a monster-destroying effect, chain Circle to get Garunix or Nephthys onto the field, so they’ll be destroyed and revive next turn (commence incineration, etc.).
